YOGA FOR HUMANS

2016 Women’s March Washington DC

I will be teaching YOGA FOR HUMANS at Mudita Yoga and Therapy on Thursday nights from 7:30-8:45.

Yoga for humans is a class that uses a traditional asana practice to lead students to engage in moving while noticing and nourishing the body.  This class is appropriate for beginners and experienced practitioners. Each class will include pranayama, meditation, vinyasa, and restorative poses.

I have a vision that people will come to this class with more curiosity about themselves than expectations to meet. I am very explicitly inviting anyone to this class who might feel that they have let their practice slip and maybe they feel anxious about committing to a whole class.

What I want this class to yield for my students is a practice of asking the body what it needs and moving toward that. Regulars that attend this class should expect very little variety and adventure. There will not be a ton of attention on complicated peak poses. Instead, we will develop devoted simplicity, and wonder as we move our bodies and breathe together.

I hope that people bring a journal and spend a few minutes after class to write a few lines. It is a great agreement to make with the mind that you will give it time to form thoughts AFTER yoga.
